Part 2 Of The Captain's Report From The Caribbean Cruise Of International Casino Games 2005/6 Finalists.
Continued from Part 1.
The International Casino Games 2005/6 has set sail on its glittering finale. 95 players and their partners successfully boarded the ship on Saturday February 25. Here is the Captain's Report about this trip.
Day Five - Wednesday, March 01 - St. Maarten.
Today we pulled into port on the charming island of St. Maarten. Once again, theFortune Lounge group spent the whole day having fun. The weather has been really generous and everyone is taking full advantage. R&R is essential because tomorrow is the big day for the final!
Another great group dinner was hosted by Fortune Lounge this evening.
Day Six - Thursday, March 02.
This is our last full day at sea with the excitement of the quarter finals buzzing throughout the ship. In the morning [10AM – 12PM] we hosted the quarter finals of the slots tournament. The top 54 players from the first rounds all competed strongly for a place in the semi-finals.
From this group, 18 semi-finalists were chosen and played off in the early afternoon [2PM – 3PM] to see who would make it into the final 9 to compete for the $250,000 Grand Prize. As each round progressed, the tension and the crowds grew.
 With the final 9 selected, it is now time for them to go head to head over two rounds. After round one, Tom B was placed last, with the average scores for all the players surprisingly low - this left the competition wide open as the final round began. Then chasing up from the tail-end Tom B hit a jackpot in the middle of the round with the crowd cheering him on.
Everyone felt like Tom had the Grand Prize in the bag, BUT... in the last moments, Debbie H hit a winning jackpot! The crowd went wild in the final minutes as nobody could have asked for a more exciting finish.
Debbie H became the first winner of the International Casino Games. Congratulations from all of us here at Fortune Lounge.
To round off this nail-biting and exciting day, the final Fortune Lounge group dinner was held in the Palm dining room.
Day Seven - Friday, March 3.
Our last day on the cruise, and to top it all off with a bang Fortune Lounge hired a private tender boat for the Fortune Lounge group to travel from the ship to the Princess Cays - a private island in the Bahamas. To spoil our finalists, we reserved cabanas and a bar area on the south beach, exclusively for the lively Fortune Lounge group. After soaking up the sun and the cocktails for the day, everyone boarded the ship again for the final trip back, to Fort Lauderdale.
This evening, we held the final awards ceremony and cocktail party for all the guests. The tournament runners up each received between $10,000 and $1,000 cash prizes, while for all the other finalists, a surprise $25,000 lucky draw was also held. To commemorate such an impressive event, each and every Fortune Lounge guest received a group photograph and a beautiful leather photo album.
Day Eight - Saturday, March 4.
Our tanned and relaxed finalists all waved a fond farewell to their ship of the past week. The Fortune Lounge hosts, tired but filled with great memories and the satisfaction of a job well done, also said their goodbyes.
An incredible time was had by all and Fortune Lounge wishes to thank the finalists and their partners for making it all come true. Thanks must also go to Princess Cruises for helping us host this groundbreaking event.
