Casino News: Monte Carlo Millions, Prima Poker, Prize Pool

July 6, 2005.

Monte Carlo Millions Poker Tournament Guarantees $3 Million Prize Pool, The Largest In European History.

Las Vegas, WSOP 2005 - The Prima Network, the world’s largest online poker network, has guaranteed the largest prize pool in European poker tournament history. Monte Carlo Millions, the world's most exclusive poker tournament, will offer a $3 million (USD) prize pool with $1 million designated for the champion. Last year’s Monte Carlo Millions is currently broadcasting on Poker Zone TV – Sky Channel 226 in Europe, Kanal5 in Sweden and Denmark. Additional broadcast partners in the U.S., Canada and Australia will be announced shortly.

Only poker’s best and brightest players will fill the 120 seats available at the luxurious Sporting d’Hiver in Monte-Carlo, Monaco from November 20-23. The tournament attracts top professional, celebrity and online players from around the world by bringing together the enchantment of the French Riviera, the extravagance of Monte-Carlo and the excitement of poker. In 2004, the Monte Carlo Millions played host to such poker idols as Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, Dave Ulliot, Chris Ferguson, Phil Laak, Tony Bloom, Mel Judah and The Hendon Mob.

Seats at the Monte Carlo Millions are acquired in only one of two ways: by personal invitation from world renowned Tournament Director Matt Savage, or by winning a satellite tournament. The online tournaments are available now on Prima’s network of card rooms through www.montecarlomillions.com. Monte Carlo Millions satellite winners are treated like royalty with a $30,000 package including round-trip airfare for two to Monte-Carlo, a five-night stay at the exclusive Hotel Hermitage and the $25,000 buy-in to the Monte Carlo Millions tournament. The tournament, a cross between the World Series of Poker® and “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous,” will be broadcast on top sports networks around the world.

“There is nothing comparable to playing poker in Monte-Carlo,” said MCM Tournament Director Matt Savage. “Monte Carlo Millions puts you eye-to-eye with the best players in the world, competing for the biggest prize pool in the most luxurious and exciting setting in Europe. It’s everything you ever dreamed poker could be, and more.”

Amidst the action of the Monte Carlo Millions will be the Second Annual Transatlantic Poker Cup, where some of Europe’s finest players will square off in a heads-up poker tournament against America’s best. Last year the Americans trounced the undefeated Hendon Mob, 3-1, but the battle for one’s country and the coveted Cup will continue again this year in Monaco.

Savage will also host the Consolation Tournament, giving all players who have not made the Monte Carlo Million’s final table a chance at a prize pool in excess of $250,000, guaranteeing everyone a cash prize. To win your seat at MCM online you can visit the tournament website or take part in MCM satellites tournaments at any of the Prima Poker Network card rooms.
